Why was this group created?Approximately 1 in 5 adults are infected genitally with Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). It is estimated that 50% to 80% of adults are infected around the mouth with HSV (cold sores aka fever blisters.)
This virus can happen to anyone. Chances are that at least one of your friends, relatives, or coworkers has HSV. Despite how common and contagious the virus is, it's typical for newly diagnosed patients to feel ashamed, guilty, alone, and depressed. This group was created in an effort to bring these people together and help them understand that we are not alone.
